I had an amazing weekend which included going to the beach, meeting new people, eating and making great food (including mashed potatoes one day and chicken and beef fajitas the next day) and hanging out with friends and doing mini-road trip.
Great great weekend indeed... plus, I got to meet quite possibly the cutest dog I've seen in a while.
Then, yesterday I went to the house of the four kids I teach English to weekly. Their moms wanted to see me teaching them... and, well... at first I was a bit worried that they doubted what I was teaching. But, as they sat and observed our lecture... I think they were mostly just eager to see the five of us interacting and communicating. It was a pretty good class, and I managed to teach the kids the difference between using "a" and "an"... which I think it's pretty advanced for a second, fourth, and two fifth graders. They picked it up pretty easily... and I also overheard the mothers realizing that's how you used it correctly too... heh heh.
The best part was when the class was over. The mothers, though they pay me monthly to teach their children, gave me presents and snacks... and even made curry for me to take home.
The hospitality and kindness of the Japanese people still amaze me to this day... though I've lived here for pretty much two years already.
Anyway... may my summer continue to be the same!

Dude! That's awesome! Are these free lance jobs you do on the side because school is out? ... Is school out? Lol! Also, I got a question: would you say " I saw an UFO" or " I saw A UFO"? Just curious. Lol!!
Free lance job... heh heh... I'm confused now... you talking about teaching the kids or taking pictures?
Never heard a part-time be called a free lance job... but, teaching the kids it's just something I got offered from one of the teachers at my school and I do it once weekly.
When I hear free lance, I think of photography... which is why I'm confused.
And... I would say "I saw a UFO" because the "u" doesn't sound like a vowel and sounds like "you" instead... just like I would say "I went to a university". But, that's just because it sounds better to me that way... not because I think it's correct... heh heh.
Lol I agree that free lancing does seem to have some sort of connection with photography. I called it freelancing because thats how I heard it being referred to when someone who is teaching in Japan goes ahead and takes on students privately at his leisure. I guess I misunderstood. I thought that was what you were doing. ^_^
Hmmm... I never heard it be referred to that... I usually just here it being referred to as part time. But, now that I think about it... free lance can refer to other stuff to. Oh well... heh heh... point is I do teach these kids on my own time and I'm completely in charge of what I teach them and stuff... so, yeah... that is what I do... heh heh...
That dog looks like a mangy version of my dog, Sailor! Except Sailor absolutely refuses to get wet.
