Yesterday my mom and I went to Sims and JCPenny to buy some business attire. And, we were actually very successful. We originally planned on going just to JCPenny since they were having a huge sale, but we passed by a Sims and figured we should check it out first so we can have some prices to compare and work off of. Well, turns out that they were having a huge sale themselves... woot woot.
Managed to buy two suits for like $200-ish... not bad. And they're good suits too... not some random brands. Then we got two sport coats for $55 each. Not bad... at least, I'd like to think. We also stumbled across trench coats, and we found one that I liked and seems like it'll be great during the winter. I was actually very excited about it. For those not familiar with Miami, well... the thought of actually owning winter clothes... let alone a TRENCH COAT... well, it's quite odd. So, I'm really excited about it. And when I was trying on the coat... I was wearing shorts. So, seeing that it went to about mid-calf... I felt like those flashers... heh heh. Whatever, it gave me a good laugh. If you ain't laughing at the thought, whatever... I can say at least one person... regardless of it being just me... laughed.
We also found some cool shoes that I was cool with and another pair of pants... some dress socks and a crazy amount of ties. That's another odd thing... who'd've thunk me... Victor... would have sooooooo many ties. Dude, I don't even know how to do ties... ::sigh::... another thing to add to the list... ( -_-)
The grand total was like $630-ish... which, seeing all that I bought... is not that bad at all.
We then went to JCPenny and basically bought more ties since they were like $5 each. I also bought like two more shorts... and... uh... oh yeah, 3 pairs of shorts. I don't really need the shorts, but... I like wearing shorts. I probably won't be getting much use of them in Iwate... but, dude... I liked them anyway. I just hope I don't get pale, ivory white legs from wearing pants all the time. I guess I should make it a habit to try and wear shorts as much as possible.
Overall, it was a pretty good outing. I think the grand total was like $800-ish. But, believe me... as expensive as that sounds... think of everything I bought. And then remember how expensive suits and business attire in general is... so, I'm pretty happy with the outcome.
One problem now... I just tremendously limited what I'm allowed to take with me when I go to Japan. Dude, the trench coat alone is like a good 20 pounds. We're going to have to figure out how to get actual everyday clothes and my stuff to the far far East somehow. I'll let you know how the status of that goes.
Anyway, here's the List again. <--- Look, it's actually a list and not a "list."
I'm actually slowly kicking some serious List glutes. But, I digress... here it be:
1) Create and complete a list <----- Yup... writing this list is on the List... \o/
2) Get a Power of Attorney document (I actually started with this) <--- man, is this tricky... don't understand any of it other than... hey, write your name here... ( 0_o)
3) Sell car - Any takers or interested party feel free to get to me about this.
4) Get TB Shots (actually, find somewhere to get shots for cheap and with no insurance first... ::sigh::)
5) Buy/acquire business clothing (Did a whole lot of this yesterday... believe I'm okay in posing as a business person)
6) Buy/acquire winter clothing <--- I got a trench coat yesterday... hopefully that will help a lot
7) Figure out as much as humanly possible about Iwate... a.k.a. - My new home
8) Brush up on my 日本語 (nihongo) <--- that'd be Japanese for... well, Japanese
9) Make sure to add to this List --whatever else I can think of whenever it comes me... hmmm... I just made this an indefinite list... which means, #1 of this list will probably never be accomplished. Yup... I was never good at completing lists.
Additions to List:
10) Buy/acquire electric outlet converter... if I need one according to Gabie...
11) Buy/acquire wireless internet thingy Christian took when we were in Japan
12) Acquire lots and lots of MONEY!
13) Buy/acquire as much American products as possible... i.e., deodorant, medicine, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.
14) Buy/acquire clippers
15) Cancel LA Fitness Membership, Car Insurance, Cell Phone
16) Learn how to do ties... or, at the very least... get someone to do all your 15+ ties before I depart to Japan
