Reaching New Level Of Celebrity Status

As I mentioned before, I attended the 3-on-3 street basketball tourney on Sunday. Yup, Rob and I sucked real bad... but, it was overall fun... not including the fact that I embarrassed myself in front of a huge group of my students.

Today, though, I realized that it wasn't just people from Ofunato who knew about my weekend activity. A teacher and a student from my school in Rikuzentakata (the neighboring city) approached me to ask if I had gone. I answered that I did, and the student mentioned that he saw me...
-_-...

Jeeeeebuz!

I told him I was horrible... and he nodded making gestures of several failed basket attempts... ::sigh::... man... right on the money. I put my hands over my face and was like... "Noooooooo... horrible..." in Japanese... heh heh. But, it gave the boys a good laugh... at my expense no less.

The teacher though, he found out through another mean... or, should I say... media. After I told him that I had played on Sunday, he disappeared and came back with a newspaper. And what did I see in that newspaper? Yup... me... playing basketball... AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I told him I was horrible... and he just laughed. He eventually cut out the newspaper clipping and gave it to me... awesome... memories of quite possibly the worst basketball game EVER!

Heh heh...

But, as embarrassed as I was about appearing in the newspaper for my lack of talent, it did make me feel cool! I made it onto a Japanese newspaper... how incredible is that?!?!?

And, if anything... the actual picture of me doesn't show me at my worst. It shows me watching the ball as my teammate shot it towards the basket... so, as far as the picture goes... I was getting ready to pounce on the ball for the rebound. Needless to say... it doesn't show my lack of skill in the picture... heh heh...

I just need to figure out if the clipping mentioned that... heh heh... DAMN YOU KANJI!!!!!

You should try making headlines for every section in the newspaper. Put it on your bucket list. You can cross off the sports section.

As far as your skillz, blame it on the rain. Keep ya head up.

Holla for a yen.
