Working on a Saturday is not bad when it means getting to go to your school's Sport's Day!
I wish I could take pictures.. the kids were really cute... especially doing their dances.
Once again I played English MC... which... really, just means I announced the events in English as they were going to take place. But, I'm not complaining at all... I like that my school always looks for a job for me to do and try to include me in everything possible.
I even got picked to do an event.
That being said... I wish I had known what I had gotten myself into. No wonder my Principal, Vice Principal and another teacher pulled out of the event. Us four chosen to participate had no idea what we got ourselves into.
Game seemed easy enough... we were supposed to carry a basket on our backs and just run as people tried to throw bean bags in our baskets. Sounds easy enough... especially due to the fact that the color we represented was supposed to be the color of the team putting the bean bags in.
There was a bit confusion... since I thought we represented a team. So, I figured... uh... they're supposed to put the bean bags in the basket... so, why are we running away?
Well... the first round ended up not counting cause I was like... yeah... put it in put it in... barely moving.
I realized afterwards, I don't represent a team at all... I represent the basket only... I'm basically a moving target... not a team member... X_x.
Wait... it gets worse...
It was a PTA event... or so I thought... making me think it'd be a couple of people.
That was my second mistake... it was, in fact... a PTA SPONSORED event... meaning... everyone but the students were allowed to play.
So, let's play a number game. I have 270-ish kids in my school. They aren't allowed to play... cool? Cool...
So, who does that leave... anybody, BUT those 270-ish kids.
Yup... that means the people coming to see the events (i.e. - parents, grandparents, older and younger siblings... uncles, aunts, teachers, guests, dogs, cats... you name it).
So... 270 x C = ?!?!?... where C = the CRAZY amount of guests each kid brought.
So... you see what I got myself into.
I was basically supposed to run away for a full minute (it was actually two minutes for two rounds before... but, after the initial botched try... everyone realized two minutes would be too much).
So, it started off easy enough. I just ran and ran and realized I was doing a pretty decent job. Then, that's when the people spread and there was just no escaping them. Having just seen Resident Evil 4 yesterday... I know what it feels like to be surrounded by zombies and needing to run for your life.
Yeah they didn't try to eat my brain out... but, that didn't stop them from doing everything possible from stopping me.
It started off with blocking me off and surrounding me at first... but, I managed to be agile enough to avoid being trapped. Then, they started grabbing me... which wasn't so bad since I could move easily.
What I had no control of... since I couldn't see behind me... was them grabbing my basket. That was really messed up... and I'll tell you why. Here I am sprinting as fast as I could... and then I don't know how many people grab my baskets making me come to a complete stop without expecting it. So... as you can imagine... with my weak knee and all... I eventually fell hard. My knee nearly popped out of place and it became a bit sore... but, not that bad.
What's worse... is that they didn't try to help me up. They did ask if I was okay... but, they took the opportunity to hold my basket down preventing me from being able to escape. I got a bit aggravated... but, that gave me the energy to escape.
At the end... I did the best. I had the least bean bags in my basket... but, all four of us moving targets did not fare well. Sore knee for me... two other teachers were taken down with the basket grabbing move as well... and the last teacher felt really ill for like half an hour.
It's a miracle I got out of the even with a sore knee only... I am thankful to still being alive!
... heh heh...
I now know why nobody volunteered and 3 people pulled out of the event.
But, you know what... though it was pretty much a horrible event to put us in... I actually enjoyed myself... heh heh... and everyone kept asking me if I was okay the whole time afterwards. If only they knew what they made us endure... heh heh... even if it was fun... ish...
Anyway... Sport's Day was a success. I participated in the last dance... and now I'm just cooling down before heading out to the teacher's drinking party.
Well... that's all. I haven't rambled like this in a long time... but, I just wanted to share my Sport's Day adventure!
Later!

Lol! Your natural competitiveness overcame your weak knee to Victory! but seriously, holding you down was messed up..its seems like there should have been a two foot rule where they can get near you but still have to toss it.
I read Marcos's post the other day and it seems like Sports day is something I'm going to enjoy. A time to compete and be violent is always such a time for me, ne Vic? ^o^
They should, at the very least... told them they couldn't hold our baskets.
But, yeah... it was cool.
However, I just woke up with a swollen knee right now. Weird since it didn't show any problems at all last night... maybe the alcohol affected it?
Marcos has a blog too? Or, you talking about his Facebook posts?
I can imagine you during your Sport's Day already... heh heh. Thing is... I'm sure the Japanese won't expect the beast within just by looking at you... heh heh...
