Getting Serious... Sort Of...

So, with my next JLPT coming up in less than two months, I've been getting some studying done.

Which, for those that know me... studying... on my own time, is quite an accomplishment.

At work... I have a set of grammar points and exercises that I've been doing. I've gone through all 12 units... and plan on continuing to look through them until I take my exam.

Out of work... I do have a weekly Japanese class. But, I want to not just pass this test... I want to do amazing. I want to improve from last year. Besides the test being at a higher level, I want to show my improvement by also getting a better score than I did last time at a lower level.

So, my plan was to get the new Pokemon game that just came out last month. I figured since I like Pokemon and have played a bunch of the past games... it shouldn't be that hard to play even if I don't understand things.

But, that doesn't mean I'm not going to try and actually learn Japanese. I'm going to force myself to read everything and make sure I understand.

This is exactly what I did today for my first attempt. I got a good 30 minutes of reading practice and then had to stop since I had gotten tired.

So, after all that... I came to realize I hadn't even exited my house yet. You start off the game in your house... and I was still there after all that time. I couldn't anymore... I feel like such a failure... heh heh. But, at least I understood what I was reading.

All I can hope is that with more playing, I'll be able to increase my reading speed, my vocabulary... and maybe my speaking speed. This might even help me out with my speech contest.

So, ganbarimasu!

Yeah dude, honestly, Japanese games are no joke. I am so proud that you were able to understand it all. I envy you. lol! I bet the game is awesome. Good luck studying for the JLPT!

I think that they should offer the test more than once a year. Honestly.
