Self Introduction

This post is mostly for me... but, feel free to comment or add anything you think will help me out.

Basically... I am supposed to come up with a way to introduce myself to my classes. And, well, they said that this could occur anywhere from once to like... I don't know... however many times you need to according to the amount of classes I'll be ALT-ing in.

So, I'm just jotting down some ideas since I've thought of some right now.

I pretty much have two ideas to put on poster boards or something... not that big... but, enough for the whole class to see.

On one poster board, I plan on writing American, English... and whatever other American cultural things I can think of. Like, writing English words (hello, goodbye, thanks, your welcome, etc.) and putting up pictures of... I don't know... American stuff? Then, flip the board over and you'll see basically the same concept... but saying Colombian, Spanish... and whatever other Colombian/Hispanic cultural things. Then putting up Spanish words (hola, adios, gracias, de nada) and the same idea with pictures.

Then, on another poster board... or, not really poster board... probably something smaller... but, yeah... putting a picture of an Otter and stating how it's my favorite animal and reasons why. Flip that over and put... ::shivers::... I'm getting all freaked out just by thinking of it... but, put a picture of a s...sp...sp........ you know where I'm getting at right... ( O_O)... a spider. Man... I better be all がんばる-ed and stuff! (ganbaru-ed)

^...yeah... I just Japanenglished there. It kind of doesn't really make sense... even if I explain it... but, I think my friends that know Japanese will get what I mean. For those who don't know Japanese... I kind of was implying something along the lines of... "I'll be trying my best!"

Anyway... for any of you trying to somehow get an informal Japanese lesson via these blogs... then, you might not want to absorb what I just did there... heh heh...

Moving back on to the board:

While I show the picture of that... sp...sp... EIGHT-LEGGED FREAK OF NATURE!!!!!--I'll explain how I'm arachnophobic and how even though I know it's not really possible, I still think that they're going to jump on me and eat me whenever there is a chance...

Besides those two poster boards... I think I also plan on taking some of my (in)famous Mario shirts and showing how I'm a tad bit obsessed with Nintendo merch... please look back to realize that the "tad bit" was itallicized... yup... I don't need to really explain that if you know me... heh heh.

After that... well... I'm hoping that that will pretty much cover enough of a self-introduction.

Anyway... I have to be hitting the sack now... so... おやすみ! (oyasumi!) <--- Goodnight!

Sounds good...I've always heard that with these things, the kids are always interested to see pictures of your house here, your family and friends, Miami,etc..
I guess you can put that on your board if you don't think of anything else. If not you could leave that for another time they have you present...like show and tell? lol.

Have you found out what age the kids are gonna be? Cause if they're somewhere in the 9-14 year range, I'd reconsider telling them you're arachnophobic... Seriously kids all over the world are pretty harsh when it comes to jokes. I'd give them a couple of days to see how nice they are, lol.

The idea of giving them a glimpse of your life is very good. Again, if they're somewhat older, I'd mention food - people are always interested in food.

They told me elementary and junior high... so, I'm thinking anywhere from the age you mentioned.
