Those footsteps I hear
Do they belong to you?
Impossible
I know you left
Vowed never to return
But still...
In this empty house
Where stillness speaks loudly
Every sound that breaks the silence
Makes my heart race
In excitement
In delight
I'm foolishly getting my hopes up
Knowing it can't be you
It's been long since you left
Even I should know better by now
I'll never see you
Smell you
Nor hear you
Not in this house
Yet, I continue to hope
Continue to wait
Surely you'll be back.
