Poem 24 - Little Puppy Dog

Two years,
I followed after you
Like a sad little puppy
In need of love.
I wagged my tail
At the very thought of you.
You were my master
I obeyed your every command.
I was a good boy to you
Cause you would do me no wrong.
Look where I stand now, though.
Abandoned and alone.
You led me on,
Gave me false hope.
You dropped me off
Didn't even look back.
No goodbyes.
No regret.
Others have come
To take me in
But like the loyal pup I am
I don't pay them any mind.
I patiently await.
Years gone by
You're a distant memory now.
Still, my tail hangs low between my legs
The pain visible in these sad eyes
I should move on,
Fend for myself.
But, a loyal dog knows their place.
I'll stay here
Continue to hope.
Not for you...
But for something like what we had
That feeling that I felt.
