Random Ramblings

This week has not made me excited about work... but, it's only because I've had absolutely nothing to do... and I seriously mean nothing. I get some relief in knowing that English classes start next week... or so I've been told and really hope for. This whole sitting at my desk for about seven hours is not for me. It makes me glad that I actually wasn't chosen for JET since I heard that they must remain in the BOE's office whenever they aren't teaching... including days when school is not even taking place... like the students' Winter, Spring and Summer vacations. Man... I would die. Office work is soooo boring and I'm not cut out for it. I'm much more a "on the field" person. In this situation... it means when I'm interacting with the students.

I admit this entry has no real purpose other than to waste time (I'm writing it by hand at school). I'm even taking the time to slowly write it in cursive... it means it takes longer doing it that way and more time is wasted.

So, yeah... let me talk about the students.

Kids should not be this cute... EVER! Oh man, I especially become paralyzed by cuteness when I'm in the presence of the first-years. Were we really that small and cute at that age?!? And I like how they say my name. Surprised these kids have an easy time remembering my full name... Beekootah Arufohnso Gurimahrudo (never took a phonetics class, so that's the best and closest I can make out to how they pronounce my name). My previous JUNIOR HIGH students only really knew my first name, except for the baseball club students from one school that I really bonded with (man, I miss those fuckers!). But, yeah... it's cute hearing them call out to me. Well... some (especially the younger girls) just grab my arm and pull to get my attention... heh heh. Younger boys tend to pull me down to touch my beard and head and make the onomatopoeia noise that comes from rubbing my shaved hair and beard. Japanese are very much into onomatopoeia vocabulary.

Yesterday I interacted with the students during recess. I was amazed not only by the fact that the school has unicycles... but, also by the fact that a lot of the students knew how to... uh... unicycle (yeah... making it a verb)? I was passed by a flurry of uniclying students... mmmm... McFlurry... sorry, just had an ADD moment there. I played some soccer with a group of 3rd years. Not a fan of soccer... but, I'm much more less a fan of being bored at my desk with nothing to do... so, no hesitation there. I then stumbled inot a dodgeball game. The teacher told me to join in. Too bad I was eliminated within a second of accepting the offer. Japanese dodgeball... though I've played it about 5 times already... still confuses me.

Warning to all foreigners... you opponents are on all sides of you... not just in front.

See, the ball had been thrown behind me before being told to join in. I accepted the invitation to play... and faced the team in front of me as I waited for my teammates to throw the ball at them. I see the students and teacher giggle and gesture to look behind me. And, when I did... I realized I was standing directly in front of the barrier where one of the opposing team members was holding the ball... like... really... less than a foot away. Yeah, she threw the ball at me before I had the time to even attempt to think about how to dodge the ball. Shortest dodgeball game for me... EVER!

I am allowed to get back in the game at some point when something occurs... but, I have yet to know what that event is. I just see random eliminated players going in from time to time. Looks like I will have to Wikipedia Japanese Dodgeball when I get home to know the rules.

Hmmm... well this entry has somehow become about Japanese Dodgeball... so, I guess that's my cue to end my random ramblings. I wasted enough time anyway... recess starts in 5 minutes... later!

Lol, oh victor and your pointless ramblings..at least you make it relevant.

Luis and I saw a kid on a unicycle just on the sidewalk in Kyoto! being followed by his mom, hehe.. will the superiority never end?? lol

I daisuki dodgeball, and rock at it too, but they play by different rules aye? I think they probably wanted to gang up on the biggest threat, lol. ^_^ Research so we can play them when we get there (>o<)/

Aye Victor, I would have thought that all this soccer playing would have made you like the game. The other day I was playing with Mike. Well not officially, there was a soccer ball in front of his house and we were just passing it to each other. I was playing in heels mind you, but i still got it :o)

I hope your english classes start soon because you are boring me with the "I'm bored because I'm doing nothing" bit

:: Eats a Reese's peanut butter cup:: >:o)..lol
