Yup... I'm in love with my new place. I know I'm just like in the "honeymoon" period... but, it has so much more to offer than Ofunato did.
Two McDonald's, a Denny's, a KFC... heh heh... not to say that restaurants and place to eat are the only thing I base my opinion on... it's just what automatically stands out... heh heh.
It has like an actual department store... not some little tiny place they just call a department store due to the lack of an actual department store in the city.
Wait... let me reread that last sentence...
... okay, it made sense. It just sounded weird for a second... heh heh.
Funny how Ofunato was known as Ofunato-Shi (meaning Ofunato City)... and Tokai is known as Tokai-Mura (meaning Tokai Village)... however, Tokai is much much more of a city... well, a suburb at the very least while Ofunato appeared to be more like a village.
So, this place is definitely looking up.
I met my school today along with the other new ALTs here.
My school seems cool... and the Kocho Sensei (principal) was actually a woman. I know woman principals are common in America... but, such is not the case in Japan... at least I don't think so.
But, I also have to admit that I experienced a bit of the Green-Eyed monster. The other two ALTs seem to be in more modern schools... one even had a pool... and were larger... while my school appeared smaller and older. The teachers at the other school also appeared more social and eager to meet the ALTs. Well, I guess I really shouldn't base it on the first meeting only... but, it's just that the other schools seemed really eager to learn more about the ALT and tried to make small talk with them... while, my school didn't even want me to introduce myself.
I was about to give them my introduction... and they stopped me saying to give it when I show up on Monday. It's weird... because, I guess I'm used to always at least introducing yourself by name when you meet people... much more so the people you will work with.
But, that's just my paranoia and human nature of wanting what you don't have.
I'm sure things will be different once I officially start on Monday. They did appear very nice and friendly. And if anything, the lady helping to show us to our new schools and introducing us to the board of education said she thinks I will do really well since I seemed very energetic and had a great smile.
If anything... that will be what wins my new school over... heh heh.
Anyway... I should get to some more unpacking and organizing... this apartment be a big mess.
